Father of the Bride First Looks

One of the most sentimental and memorable parts of a wedding day is the first moment the dad gets to see his little girl all dressed up and ready for her wedding day. Since the moment he held that little bundle of pink in the hospital, he knew this day was coming. He's tried to prepare himself for that walk down the aisle, but I'm not sure anything can prepare a daddy fully to give his little girl away!

The idea of first looks has been around for a while, but in recent years, brides have also established this trend with the dads. To see and capture the tears and love in his eyes as he sees his baby on her wedding day is absolutely one of my favorite moments of the day! It always brings me back to that moment with my own dad as we waited (both in tears) for the double doors to open for our walk together down the aisle. It's hard not to get a little teary myself as I watch and photograph that magical moment.

If you're looking to have your first look with your dad at your own wedding, here are some simple tips!

  1. Schedule your first look with dad right after you are done getting dressed and ready. Your hair and makeup will look fresh, and you'll have plenty of time left in the day to capture all of the other important parts of the day.

  2. Bring tissues! Trust me, you'll need them! You'll also want to be close by your make-up in case you need a touch-up.

  3. Consider giving him a small gift to make the moment last forever. This could be something as simple as a precious framed photo, a hand-written letter, or even on embroidered tie or handkerchief.

I hope these simple tips help you pull off the perfect father-daughter first look at your own wedding! As always, message for any questions or details on perfecting the perfect father-daughter moment.
