Some weddings are beautiful because of the flowers, the venue, or the little details. And then there are weddings that are beautiful because every single detail tells a story about the people getting married. Kallie and Michael’s wedding was exactly that.

These two have been together since Kallie was in high school, which made watching them finally say “I do” feel like such a special milestone in a love story that has been years in the making. Their wedding day wasn’t about putting on a show—it was about celebrating the life and love they have built together. And they truly built this wedding, too.

Michael stayed up all night the night before the wedding cooking all of the food for their reception. Kallie and Michael built their own arbor, arranged their own flowers, and took care of so many of the decorations themselves. Every corner of their day had a personal touch because it was made by the very people who were at the center of it all. There was something incredibly meaningful about that.

One of my favorite moments was their tree-planting ceremony. Rather than simply marking the beginning of their marriage with a traditional unity ritual, Kallie and Michael chose to plant something together—something that will continue to grow and become stronger through the years, just like their marriage. It was such a beautiful representation of their story.

Their day was filled with the kind of sentimental moments that can't be recreated or manufactured. The little looks between them. The details they made themselves. The food Michael worked through the night to prepare. The arbor they built together. The flowers they arranged. And all the people who came to celebrate a couple who have been choosing each other since they were young.

Kallie and Michael, congratulations on this next chapter of your story! It was such an honor to document a day that was so uniquely and unmistakably you.
