Breeding Family

There’s something especially meaningful about photographing a family you know personally, and my time with the Breeding Family this November was exactly that. Janet attends the church where I work, and over the years I’ve gotten to know her and her family through the everyday moments that come with church life. So when she asked me to capture their generational photos, I was honored and excited to spend an afternoon documenting the people who mean the most to her.

We kept things simple and comfortable by doing the photos right in Janet and Wayne’s front yard. The fall light happened to be perfect that afternoon, and everyone showed up ready to relax and have a good time. The kids played between shots, the adults chatted and laughed, and the whole session felt easy—like spending time with family friends rather than posing for a formal photoshoot. It was the kind of atmosphere that makes genuine moments happen naturally.

What stood out most was the unmistakable bond they share. Each grouping—whether it was the full family, each generation, or the little candid moments in between—showed the legacy Janet and Wayne have built over the years. It was a joy to witness and an even bigger joy to photograph. I’m always grateful when families trust me with their treasured memories, and this session with the Breeding Family was a beautiful reminder of why I love what I do.
