From Inquiry to Gallery: What It’s Like to Work With Me as Your Wedding Photographer

When you book a wedding photographer, you’re doing more than just hiring someone to take pictures — you’re inviting someone into some of the most personal and emotional moments of your life. I believe in making that experience smooth, personal, and enjoyable from day one. Here’s a peek into my full workflow, so you know exactly what to expect from the first message to your final gallery delivery.

1. The Inquiry - It all begins with a simple message — usually through my website or Instagram. I’ll respond with availability, pricing, and a link to schedule a quick phone call. I want to get to know you, hear your story, and answer any initial questions you might have.

2. The Phone Call - This is our chance to connect! We’ll chat about your vision, timeline, and what you’re looking for in a photographer. Whether you’re dreaming of a laid-back beach wedding or a church ceremony followed by a farm reception, I want to hear it all. If it feels like a great fit, we’ll move forward with…

3. Contract + Deposit - To secure your date, I’ll send over a digital contract and invoice. Once that’s signed and your deposit is paid, your wedding date is officially booked on my calendar!

4. The Wedding Questionnaire - Next, I’ll send you a detailed questionnaire to help me learn all the little things — names, important moments to watch for, family dynamics, and more. This helps me show up on your big day fully prepared and with a plan.

5. The Engagement Session - This is one of my favorite parts of the process. Not only do you walk away with beautiful photos for your save-the-dates and wedding website, but you also get comfortable in front of my camera. We laugh, we walk, we practice posing — and by the end, it feels like we’re old friends.

6. Timeline Planning - A few months before the wedding, we’ll work together (often alongside your planner or coordinator) to build a timeline that maximizes natural light, keeps things low-stress, and ensures we capture all your must-have moments. I’ll guide you through how much time we need for getting ready, first looks, portraits, and more.

7. Bridals (Optional) - If you choose to add a bridal session, we’ll schedule it about 4–6 weeks before your wedding. It’s the perfect time to do a full trial run of your hair, makeup, and dress — and get stunning portraits without the wedding day rush.

8. Family Formal Planning - A few weeks out, I’ll send a short family formal photo list form so we can stay organized and efficient after your ceremony. You’ll just fill in who needs to be included, and I’ll take it from there.

9. The Wedding Day - You get to enjoy every moment while I capture it all — the big emotions and the tiny details. I’ll keep us on schedule, guide you when needed, and blend into the background when it’s time to just let the day unfold.

10. Sneak Peek on Tuesday - I know how excited you are to relive the day, so I send a curated sneak peek within 48–72 hours (usually by Tuesday). You’ll have a handful of beautiful photos ready to share and enjoy while the rest of your gallery is being finalized.

11. Staggered Gallery Delivery - Instead of waiting weeks for your entire gallery, I like to deliver your photos in batches every 2–3 days. You’ll get to relive your day piece by piece — getting ready, portraits, ceremony, reception — until your full gallery is complete, typically within 3 weeks or less.

I don’t just want you to have beautiful photos — I want you to feel cared for every step of the way. This workflow has been shaped by years of experience and dozens of weddings, all with one goal: to make your wedding photography feel effortless, organized, and personal.

Getting married soon? Let’s chat! I’d love to hear your story and see if we’re the perfect fit.
