Look & Feel More Natural on Camera
Let’s be honest—most people feel a little awkward in front of the camera at first. The good news? You don’t have to be a model to look great in your photos. As your photographer, I’ll guide you every step of the way—but here are 5 tips to help you feel more confident and relaxed going into your session:
1. Keep Moving
Instead of holding one stiff pose, try soft movements—walk slowly, play with your hair, shift your weight, or sway gently. Motion helps photos feel natural and candid.
2. Laugh (Even if It Feels Silly)
Fake a giggle if you need to! It almost always turns into a real smile. I’ll prompt you with fun or goofy cues to help you loosen up and feel more like yourself.
3. Focus on Each Other (Not the Camera)
If you’re with your partner or kids, interact with them—not me. Whisper something funny, lean in for a quick forehead kiss, or simply talk. Those in-between moments are often the best shots.
4. Relax Your Hands
This is a big one! Keep hands soft and natural—tuck them in a pocket, gently hold a dress hem, rest them on your hip or your partner’s arm. Tension in the hands can make your whole body look stiff.
5. Trust the Process
You don’t need to know what to do. That’s what I’m here for! I’ll give you clear, simple directions that feel natural. Your only job is to have fun and be yourself.
Whether it's a family session, maternity, or senior portraits—these little tips go a long way toward helping your photos feel like you. Ready to get in front of the camera? Let’s make some magic!
