McLean Family

There are some families who start to feel like old friends, and the McLeans are one of those for me.

I've had the privilege of photographing their family for several years now, and one of my favorite parts of this job is getting a front-row seat to seasons of life that pass by far too quickly. Looking back through their galleries over the years is like flipping through the pages of a family storybook. Every session tells a little more of their story.

This summer's session at beautiful Sycamore Lane in Ellerbe was especially sweet because there was a brand-new face joining us. Their newest little guy has officially made his debut, and I don't think there's any question about who he looks like. He is his daddy's twin! It always makes me smile to see those little family resemblances that become part of the story they'll laugh about for years to come.

And then there's big sister. It's hard to believe she's already two years old. She kept us all moving with her endless energy, curious little personality, and the biggest smiles. She has completely embraced her new role as big sister, and watching the way she loved on her baby brother made for some of my favorite moments of the evening. Those aren't the kinds of moments you can pose—they just happen, and they're always the ones parents treasure the most.

One of the reasons I love photographing families year after year is because the photos become so much more than a snapshot in time. They're a reminder of tiny hands that won't stay tiny, toddlers who eventually outgrow being carried, and babies who somehow become little boys before anyone is ready.

To the McLean family, thank you for trusting me with your memories once again. It has been such a joy watching your family grow, and I can't wait to see what next year's chapter looks like.
