How Much Wedding Coverage You Really Need
One of the most common questions I hear from couples is, “How many hours of photography coverage do we really need?” The answer depends on your timeline, the type of celebration you’re planning, and which parts of the day are most important to you. That’s why I offer two packages: a five-hour option and an eight-hour option. Both are designed to capture your love story, but they fit different styles of weddings.
The five-hour package is best suited for more intimate celebrations. It works beautifully for elopements, smaller church weddings that don’t include a long reception, or second weddings where the focus is on a meaningful ceremony with close family and friends. With five hours, you’ll have coverage for the most important parts of the day—your ceremony, portraits with family, photos of the two of you together, and a portion of the reception. This option keeps the focus on the essentials while keeping the timeline simple. The trade-off is that there’s less time for things like getting ready photos, detailed flat lays of your invitations and heirlooms, or extended coverage of the dance floor later in the evening.
For couples who want the full story of their day told from start to finish, the eight-hour package is the best fit. With this option, I’m there in the morning for those special “getting ready” moments, capturing the excitement, laughter, and happy nerves as you prepare to say “I do.” There’s plenty of time for the little details too—your dress, shoes, rings, flowers, and all the small touches that make your wedding uniquely yours. After the ceremony, we’ll have time for family formals, portraits of you as a couple, and then the celebration that follows. From grand entrances and first dances to toasts, cake cutting, and a packed dance floor, eight hours allows your day to unfold naturally without feeling rushed. It gives me the opportunity to tell the complete story of your wedding day, ending with those joyful, candid moments as the night winds down.
When deciding which package is right for you, think about the kind of day you’re planning. If your wedding will be short and sweet with a smaller guest list, five hours may be all you need. But if you’ve envisioned a larger celebration with a full reception and don’t want to miss a single moment, eight hours is the way to go.
